It has always been the aim of HnP Architects to create buildings that are as sustainable as possible throughout our years of architectural practice. We have used reclaimed wood (instead of cutting a new tree), natural plasters (instead of chemical paints), oxide and terracotta-based flooring (instead of expensive tiles), and scrap metal for grills. Yet, we recognize there is more to be done. A significant challenge has been the reliance on cement, a material with a high environmental impact.
That’s where மண்-made comes in. This is our experimental journey into earth-based construction, where mud takes center stage as the primary building material.
In collaboration with Kali Natural Buildings Initiative, we’re exploring the incredible possibilities of earth (the soil) as a building material.
