The client who is an organic farmer wanted a simple farmhouse with earthy vibes to spend quality time at their farm in a suburb of Chennai. From the entrance, the rammed earth wall warmly welcomes us to the house. Here, the rammed earth wall acts as an external wall to the ground floor up to the level of seven feet. With two large courtyards, the ground floor of this home feels like living inside a sophisticated cave.
The soul of this home revolves around the two courtyards and the enveloping rammed earth wall making the structure beautifully blend with the farm.
The rammed earth wall is purposely raised high to offer privacy inside the home from the semi-public farm.
